Cruises: Popular Ports of Call

Cruises: Popular Ports of Call
By Graham Grant

There is no better enjoyment than seeing the most beautiful parts of the world. Each and every continent has its own beauty spots that you cannot find in any other continent. These are the sites that await tourists going on cruises. Today you have all these beauty spots at your lap and so it is a good idea to have a guide outlining the cruises to these beautiful places. The fact is that cruises are first and foremost an enjoyment that hits our sense of what is pleasurable and that includes savoring what is best of the different cultures and lifestyles of the places we take a cruise to.

The following are the most popular Destinations of Cruises.

Show me an ocean and I will show you a cruise. Following this little maxim you can actually pick out any cruise destinations choices that have been tried and enjoyed by connoisseurs of luxury travels. Some such destinations are described below together with what it is that makes them such great destinations.

The mystical island of Martinique:

This is a French colony and is one of the highlights of Caribbean cruises. The capital city Fort-de-France is a truly beautiful town. Martinique is one of the Windward Islands in the West Indies, with the north having two black sand beaches which impress the charm of this little island even more. Other beauty spots in Martinique include Diamond Rock, Balata Gardens and the famous volcano of St. Pierre which as far as we know is not at the moment likely to erupt.

The colorful island of Grenada:

This is one of the smallest of Independent Island to be found in the northern hemisphere of out planet. Grenad is part of the Windward Caribbean Island and its tourist attraction include Sandy Island, Mount Qua Qua, and the Grand Etang Foreset Reserve.

Nice This is a city by the sea in the South of France. The most striking characteristic is that they still have in use their own language called Nicard. If you are a fan of the finer foods, here you can find great dishes. The best attraction of the city is the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. An honorable mention also to the Promenade des Anglais, the Museum dedicated to the great French artist known as Matisse and the Monastere de Climiez.

Cannes:

Cannes is very much a cruise to go for if you like cinema as it is here where the foremost festival in Europe takes place. Apart from that it is a very fashionable area. Notable also is its proximity to both the sea and the mountains as it resides very near the Italian and French frontiers. Other great attraction are the Forvill Market, the Musee dela Castre, Carlton Beach and La Croisette.

The Principality of Monaco:

This is a major tourist cruise attraction in that it is in an ideal seaside location and offers great night time entertainment thanks to its notorious gambling attractions. It is enveloped by France and has always been a sovereign state with its own laws. Other tourist attractions are the Exotic Garden, the Oceonographich Museum and Aquarium and if you are a fan of Formula 1 racing you will enjoy going there during a summer cruse when F1 cars zoom around the street of the Principality.

The flowery port of San Remo:

Cruises to San Remo are known as flower cruise. This is due to the fact that San Remo has a large flower market. It is also a very fashionable resort in the northern coast of Italy. Each year Italians also hold a very popular musical event and historically it is where the First World War peace treaty was ratified.

Genoa:

This is Italys main port in the fertile region of Liguria on the west coast of Italy. It is a most popular cruise destination in the Mediterranean only second to Marseille in France. The best tourist attraction includes the Cathedral of San Lonrenzo, Piazza San Matteo and some rather famous Museums full of history.

What You Should Know Before You Leave On Your Cruise Vacation

What You Should Know Before You Leave On Your Cruise Vacation
By Jim Johnson

A cruise vacation is always an exciting opportunity to unwind and see places and people that you have never seen before. And in the meantime, you can get away from the regular pace of your normal life. But before setting sail it's a good idea to know as much as you can about cruising, especially if it's your first cruise, and so here are some things you should know before you leave on your next cruise vacation:

* Most cruise lines have policies against bringing liquor on board with you. You can certainly buy alcoholic drinks once you are on board, as they are plentiful, but generally they do not allow you to buy alcoholic beverages at ports of call and then bring them with you to drink them on board the ship. Sometimes they will hold a bottle of liquor that you buy for you in safe keeping until the end of the cruise, but just make sure of this policy in advance though.

* Smoking policies vary considerably among the various cruise lines but all do not allow smoking in restaurants on board. They also restrict smoking in some parts of the ship for the benefit of their passengers. For those that wish to enjoy a completely smoke free atmosphere, Carnival does offer such an experience on board the Paradise cruise ship. Otherwise, just check with each cruise line to see how well they accomodate your needs in this area.

* If you are traveling alone, it may be best to look for singles cruises as most standard cruise fares are made for two people occupying the same room. If you are traveling alone then, you are obviously paying quite a bit more for the ticket than is necessary. Many singles cruises also afford an opportunity to meet others of similar interests, so they can be beneficial in many ways.

* You will still be able to stay in touch while cruising as all cruise lines make available phone calls and internet access for those that wish to email. However, expect extra charges for taking advantage of these services.

* If you are going to sail, use the right lingo when you do. Port means left, and starboard is right. The vessel is a ship, not a boat. Aft is the back of the ship and the bow is the front. All flooring is called a deck, not a floor. If you are going to enjoy the adventure, why not use the colorful language too, right?

Cruising on royal carribean cruise lines, carnaval cruises, and disney cruise ships, as well as others, can be a fun adventure for everyone if you understand in advance what requirements are involved. So be sure to read them carefully as supplied by your cruise line and you can have the vacation cruise of your life.

Find out more about royal carribean cruise lines and discount disney cruises by visiting our Vacation Guide website.

Why A Cruise Ship Wedding Is Fun For Everyone

Why A Cruise Ship Wedding Is Fun For Everyone
By Mary Hanna

A cruise ship wedding can be more fun than a traditional wedding. All cruise lines have different packages and rules for receptions and number of guests. The internet and your travel agent should have all the information about a wedding on a cruise ship for any particular cruise line. Not all the captains are licensed to marry you, but many lines will have a priest or rabbi or some other officiate that may provide these ceremonies. If you considering a cruise ship wedding, plan early so you will not be disappointed. Lots of cruise ships limit the number of ceremonies per cruise. Some of the Cruise Lines that offer cruise ship weddings are discussed below.

Princess Cruises has a wedding chapel where they perform the cruise ship weddings. The Grand Princess and her sister ships all have wedding chapels. Here the Captain is able to perform the ceremony. Wedding options start at $1400.00 per couple with receptions around $70-$80.00 per head. There will be hot and cold hors d oeuvres, drinks and an official marriage certificate, a cake and music. The ships photographer is available and the ships florist can design any arrangements that you have in mind. You can check out their packages on line. Click on the On Board link and then the wedding/special occasions link to get information on weddings on a cruise ship. They even supply you with a phone number for a wedding consultant. The Hearts and Minds Chapel is quite quaint and perfect for a wedding on a cruise ship.

A more upscale option is Crystal Cruise who will perform ceremonies for weddings, vow renewals or anniversaries. Your cruise ship wedding will be performed by the captain or a member of the clergy and includes Champagne, a Portrait, and a cake. They also have a Honeymoon Package with a cake, champagne, a picture and a certificate signed by the captain. I would discuss this one with your agent but of course you could check out their website.

Royal Caribbeans Voyager of the Seas has a wedding chapel and performs cruise ship weddings on the day of embarkation. Their wedding packages start at $800.00. They include flowers for bride and groom, a photo session, champagne and a cake. Go to their website to check out their options.

Carnival Cruises has shore side packages that are all inclusive. There will be a toast with keepsake flutes, a photograph, the wedding cake topper and an engraved announcement. You can also customize any extras for a fee. Talk to your travel agent, or, if you want to do some research on your own, go to the Carnival website.

After your cruise ship wedding take tons of pictures. Especially today with digital cameras, this helps to keep the cost of film and the film development down. Be sure to bring a lot of memory cards. Save stubs from tours you have taken, the invitation to the Captains Table for dinner, any notes you receive from the officers, the brochure that lists the itinerary, the dates of each port of call. You can make many beautiful well documented photo albums that will bring lots of smiles and many fond memories. It is highly recommend building a scrapbook from your trip; you will love it later when you pull it out and relive the experiences. It takes some time but is so worth it to have these pictures after your cruise ship wedding. On our honeymoon aboard the Volendam at the end of the cruise they supplied us with a beautiful menu from each dinner. On one side was the menu and on the other a beautiful scene from Holland.

All ships have a Newlyweds game. Go to it. It is fun and hopefully, you will only be a newlywed once. Participate in all the activities, they are a little bit corny but they do make you laugh. Let everyone know you have just had your cruise ship wedding, people love that. You might even get a few free drinks.

Honeymooning on a ship is a great way to kick back and relax after that year of stressful planning for the cruise ship wedding. It is now time to enjoy you and your spouse and the journey of a lifetime. Take advantage of your time together in a luxurious atmosphere. Have fun, meet new people, make new friends and be yourself, most of these people you will never see again.

Heres to a Bon Voyage, a wonderful cruise ship wedding and great honeymoon.

Cruise Deals How to Save Up to 60% of Your Cruise Fares

Cruise Deals - How to Save Up to 60% of Your Cruise Fares
By Jerrick Foo

A cruise package can easily cost you a bomb if you do not how cruise prices works. There are many strategies to keep your cruise fares down. It is entirely possible to pay less than what you have been paying for any cruise deals, provided you know how.

In this article, we will share with how you can grab these cruise bargains like the others.

Discount Tip #1 Advance Bookings

Cruise itineraries are well published beforehand, even up to a year ahead. If you are able to book your cruise well ahead of the sailing date, you may just qualify for early-bird discounts.

You need to book at least 90 days in advance and to grab those really hot cabin types, plan to book at least six months in advance. Besides able to save up as much as 60%, you also get to pick your cabin first.

Discount Tip #2 Last minute Bookings

Cruise lines would rather offer last-minute deals than let their cabins be unfilled. Normally, to prevent cruise travelers from getting used to such eleventh-hour deals, they only inform their top-producing travel agents. But beware that this is a risky technique to lower your cruise fares as your sailing date and cabin are subjected to other peoples whims and fancy.

Discount Tip #3 Off Peak Bookings

The months of April, early May and Nov-Dec period are consider cruise shoulder seasons. Thats when cruise packages can fall in prices by as much as 40-50%. Go ahead to book these packages if you think the schedule fits you fine.

Discount Tip #4 Kids Special Rates

Cruise liners normally offer privileges prices for kids who tag along during the cruise. These sort of family-friendly discounts are usually on a seasonal basis only. But if you have three or more passengers traveling, you can ask for standard third and fourth passenger discounts as well.

Single's Cruises to Meet Hot & Sexy Single Women

Single's Cruises to Meet Hot & Sexy Single Women
By Don Diebel

It's that time of the year to start planning vacations. I personally took a lot of vacations by myself to explore and enjoy the many great vacation spots the U.S. has to offer. I really enjoyed taking in the scenery, but felt kind of lost when seeking places to find women. I was unfamiliar with where the hot spots were to meet single women.

So, with this problem in mind when taking a vacation by yourself, let me offer some advice as an alternative selection for a vacation in which you will be around lots of single women in a confined environment. And that choice would be going on a single's cruise.

So, what is a single's cruise? These are specially designed vacations catering to singles. There's plenty of hot action (if you know what I mean) and shipboard romances are the rule. Everything is so conducive to romance. There's just so many planned activities where you are thrown together with lots of single eligible women.

All you've got to do to meet women on these cruises is to simply say, Hi. That's what they are there for, to meet a guy like you. Also, they are far away from home and more inclined to be free and loose. They are more open to having a good time, being wild and crazy and inclined to having a shipboard overnight fling.

If you are thinking about taking one of these single's cruises, I would suggest checking out these sources:

Do you knowwhat options you have for locations, time frames and evensights to see? More than likely, you do not know all thatis available and you want to make sure you decide on acruise for a vacation that fits well with your goals.

Here are some things to think about when deciding on acruise for a vacation.

* Time of year. While you may not realize it, some cruisesmay be a better choice in the winter months rather than inthe summer. Also, take into consideration tropical stormswhen heading to the area. Of course, you may not be able totake an Alaskan cruise in the deep winter months unless youdo not mind the skiing, the snowboarding and the hiking thatyoull be able to enjoy.

* What activities do you want to participate in? This isimportant for all members of the vacation to talk about. Ifyou are one of the many that does not enjoy hot weather, then deciding on a cruise for a vacation during the summermonths may not be a wise choice. Consider what thingsyoull want to learn too. You will have the opportunity onmany of the cruises to do all sorts of things from waterskiing to rock climbing and even sky diving. Choose acruise based on the activities that you can enjoy as well aseveryone else too.

* A cruise can take you to see other cultures, countries andvisit amazing places. You can learn, explore and just enjoyall that the ship has to offer. But, youll need to makesure that you do enjoy these things. If you are one thatdoes not like a ship, then deciding on a cruise for avacation may not be the right way to go.

Deciding on a cruise for a vacation is something that shouldbe done by everyone who will be going. Get some informationonline about different options that are available and makeyour choice based on these options.

Honeymoon Cruises and Ice Cream Machines

Honeymoon Cruises and Ice Cream Machines
By Andrew Bicknell

My wife and I had a great wedding. Family and friends on a gorgeous afternoon in the month of May. It couldnt have gone better and as far as were concerned it was the best wedding we have ever been to. But them everyone says that about their wedding, probably even the people who send their wedding videos to those wedding bloopers shows.

But I digress. We chose to go on a cruise for our honeymoon, which turned out to be a lot of fun for both of us as neither of us had ever been on a cruise before. We cruised on one of the Fun Ships from Carnival Cruise Lines out of Port Orlando Florida. Now many of you experienced cruisers out there know all this but for us first timers going on a cruise was a new and novel experience.

Cruise ships are big, and the ship we were on was only considered medium sized. Trying to find our way around took a little getting used to, but by the second day it was pretty hard to get lost. The first thing we did was find out state room and drop of our carry on bags and then we were off to the lunch buffet up on the main pool deck. Now heres where it gets a little confusing for the first time cruiser. Standing in the line at the buffet it suddenly dawned on me that like most cruises this one was all inclusive, except for alcoholic drinks. That meant I could get as much food from the buffet and it was already paid for. Not only that I could come back as many times as I wanted, not that I did. Realizing that we didnt have to carry money with us was kind of liberating. All we really needed was our room key which doubled as a kind of charge card for things, such as alcoholic drinks, that werent part of the all inclusive package.

After lunch it was time to explore the ship and see what it had to offer. I wont go into big detail here other than to say there was a lot to be done on a cruise ship. On the upper main deck at the back of the ship was casual dining establishment. It was always open and always had food available. Now as we walked through I noticed towards the back of the dining area a large kiosk. As we approached and came around it from behind it was like a dream come true.

A soft serve ice-cream machine. You know, like the ones at Dairy Queen. It took me a moment to realize that just like the lunch buffet back on the main pool deck; this ice cream was absolutely free. Do you get that, for 5 days and 4 nights I could come and get either vanilla, chocolate, or, and this is the best part, chocolate vanilla swirl ice cream anytime I wanted.

And right next to the bowls and spoons was every topping imaginable. They had chocolate, caramel, sprinkles, hot fudge, peanuts, cherries and whipped topping. It was like getting locked inside a Dairy Queen for the night, only the night lasted for 5 days. I mean, come one, that ice cream machine was more than worth the price of the entire honeymoon cruise.

So if you ever get a chance to go on a cruise make sure to find out if the ship you want to go on has a soft serve ice-cream machine. I know Im looking forward to the next time my wife and I go on a cruise just for that simple fact.

Andrew Bicknell has gone on ahoneymoon cruise and partook of the soft serve ice-cream machine. For more information about honeymoons and cruises check out his websiteHoneymoon Destinations.

25 Ways to Save money When you Book a Cruise

25 Ways to Save money When you Book a Cruise
By Shirley Linde

Ready to sign up for a cruise? Before you get out your credit card, check these tricks of the trade.

BOOK EARLY
Booking three to six months in advance will often save you money, and also give the best choice of cabins. The earlier you book, the bigger the discount.

PAY EARLY
Several cruise lines give an extra discount if you pay in full at least six months in advance of your cruise date, sometimes as much as 15 percent.

BOOK LATE
Last minute bookings can also result in savings -- no ship wants to leave with empty cabins. However the downside is that cabin choice may be limited, or the ship may have no cabins left at all.

CONSIDER OFF-SEASON
Cruises are usually most expensive in high season, so if you go earlier or later you can get a cheaper fare. Examples: Alaska cruises are cheaper in April, May and September; Mediterranean cruises in September and October; Caribbean cruises in early fall or in January and February. However, check that the weather is still pleasant or the wildlife is at the stage you want to see. Sometimes a fare will be less just before or after a holiday.

CONSIDER A REPOSITIONING CRUISE
Typical repositioning cruises go between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, or from Alaska in the fall to the California coast or to Baja for the winter. Repositioning cruises are sometimes half the cost of the same number of days when they get to their destination, but they have more days at sea and fewer ports of call.

DO A NEW ITINERARY OR AN INAUGURAL CRUISE
These cruises often have special introductory rates. However, if you take an inaugural cruise on a new ship, don't expect everything to be perfect. Some problems are inevitable as the kinks are worked out.

PUT TOGETHER A GROUP
Groups that travel together save together. If you put together a group from your church or club or school or even a family reunion, we can get you a group fare. Usually if there are 15 or more, you can get a free extra ticket.

CONSIDER AN INSIDE STATEROOM
To some people, a view is important. But to others the cabin is only a place for sleeping and changing clothes, and they would rather give up the window and keep the money. If you like to sleep late, having an inside cabin will prevent early morning sunshine from waking you. But you won't have a view or know what the weather is.

HAVE THREE OR FOUR IN A CABIN
Third or fourth persons (or children) go at a substantial discount, sometimes free. Then everyone shares the cost, and the savings. Make sure you get along -- it can be excruciatingly crowded.

BE FLEXIBLE TAKE A GUARANTEE
If the ship is sold out of the cabin category that you want, you can confirm your booking and the cruise line gives you a guarantee to provide a cabin in that category or one higher, but you don't know where the cabin will be.

GO STANDBY
With a standby reservation, you are called at the last minute if there is a cancellation. But be careful of expensive last-minute air fare. Standby bookings work well when you live near a city where cruises originate, then you can make fast plans and not have to deal with air.

BECOME A REPEAT PASSENGER
Cruise lines usually give a special discount to past passengers. Or they may give upgrades in cabin category. If you've sailed on a cruise line previously, always tell that when you ask for a quote or make a reservation.

CHECK FOR SPECIAL PROMOTION
Watch ads and newsletters for promotional specials on both small ships and big ships. There may be a two-for-one offer, kids free, or 50 percent off for the second passenger.

SPECIAL OCCASION
Tell when you book if you are celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary or a family reunion on the cruise, and you we can sometimes get you an extra discount.

ADDED VALUE
Sometimes instead of offering a cheaper fare, a cruise line will offer free days at a hotel at a port before or after a cruise, or will offer additional days of cruising for a discounted rate. Example: Book three months early and get a free hotel room in Vancouver. Sometimes a cruise line will offer credits you can use in shipboard shops or casinos.

CABIN UPGRADES FOR SPECIAL REASONS
Some lines offer an upgrade in cabin category if you are a repeat passenger, on a honeymoon, celebrating an anniversary, are retiring, recovering from an illness, or you brought other passengers on board. When you book tell if you have a special circumstance and try to get you an upgrade.

FREQUENT-FLIER MILES
Sometimes cruise lines offer frequent-flier miles on some of their voyages.

BOOK BACK-TO-BACK
If you arrange to stay on the ship for a second cruise, on many ships we can get you the second week at a greatly reduced rate.

FLAT-RATE SPECIALS
The way that this works is that you tell the cruise line the cabin category of your choice, but you won't get a specific stateroom designation until a week or so before sailing. You get the best available cabin at that time. This is also called ba (to be assigned).

SENIOR CITIZEN SPECIALS
Some cruise lines have discounts for persons over age 55 or 65. Sometimes if a senior citizen is traveling with a younger person, a discount will apply to both fares. If you are a senior, be sure to mention it when you ask about a price.

WATCH AIR FARES
There are ways to save on air fare too. Sometimes the cruise/air package is cheaper; sometimes booking air separately is cheaper. If you don't need air because your departure port is nearby, you can get a credit on the airfare if it is built into a package price. Plan as far ahead as possible to get the lowest-priced tickets. You might be eligible for a senior discount, or if going with a companion, you can buy a four-coupon packet with many airlines.

HOTELS AND CAR RENTALS
Cruise lines often have pre or post-cruise packages that are reasonably priced that can be arranged for at the same time you book your cruise. As you plan your total vacation and what you will do at the beginning and end of the cruise, tell the agent your plans and they can check what the cruise line has to offer compared to what they can get for you directly with a hotel at their promotional rate.

COMPARE CRUISE LINES
Different ships often go to the same destinations. Investigate about the ships and cruises that go to that destination. Compare itineraries, accommodations, educational programs, shore excursions and fares. Some cruise lines have cabins for singles with no single supplement. By comparing, you may find a cruise that offers all you want and has a wonderfully cheaper fare. (Be sure when you compare fares that you know whether shore excursions and port charges are included or not.) Check with an agent because cruise lines send notices to agencies when there are special deals and make sure your agent always checks for any new special offerings.

CHECK NEWSLETTERS AND WEBSITES
At smallshipcruises.com, for example, we have a front-page column that will give you latest discounts and special offerings on ships.

LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
If you tell your agent the ships and the destinations you are most interested in, and when in the future you might want to book, they will tell you when any discounts become available. You can also subscribe to cruise newsletters from website informatin centers, agencies, and cruiselines themselvles to get cruise news and specials. They will never charge a fee for getting a quote for you or booking your cruise and they may know of a special offering that you would not otherwise know about. But remember, the most important thing of all is to not book a cruise just because of its price, but to find a cruise that best fits your needs and desires

Why a Cruise Vacation is YOUR Dream Holiday

Why a Cruise Vacation is YOUR Dream Holiday
By Keith Kingston

Thinking you could use an escape from the wintertime blahs, maybe even that dream holiday you've been thinking about for years? A Caribbean cruise vacation is the answer! What makes a cruise your dream holiday, you ask? Well, put simply, a cruise combines all the elements of a dream vacation into one blissful trip. There is ALWAYS something to do, no matter your age or interests. Whether you're on your honeymoon, vacationing with the family, or spending quality time reuniting old friends, a cruise is guaranteed to fulfill your dreams.

Picture yourself riding on a beautiful cruise ship, looking over the railing to see brilliant blue waters, idyllic sunsets, and dolphins playing in the white-capped waves. Do you feel dreamy already? This fantasy can be your reality if you choose a cruise for your next vacation.

With multiple poolside decks to lay out in the sunshine while enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean, along with reggae music and fruity island beverages, daytime on the cruise ship can be very relaxing. If you prefer to be more active, most ships are fully equipped with activities. Take a jog around the boat-top track, or spend the day in aerobics and yoga classes followed by a massage and facial at the spa. If shopping is your one true love, you'll be in heaven with all the shops on the ships, ranging from inexpensive trinkets to fancy wine and fine clothing.

As if there isn't enough to do aboard the boat, don't forget about island excursions! As the ship makes stops at various tropical paradises, you can take in the local culture or fulfill your need for adventure. Locals await you to take you to their favorite coral to swim with the dolphins or on a waterfall climb. Also, there is unlimited shopping on the islands, so you can really add to your art collection or your wardrobe. Try the native food of the islands, and maybe learn a new word or two. By the time you climb back aboard your ship you'll truly feel like you've visited another world.

Now it's time to hop in the shower to prepare for the evening. Every night on a cruise ship is magical. Start out with a five-course meal in the fine dining room (that's already paid for!!). Enjoy drinks, piano music, cover bands, dancing and more in one of the several bars, or try your luck at black jack or poker in the casino. There are always cruise-wide games to play on the decks if you want to meet new people or just be silly with your friends and family. No matter what you are looking for in a holiday vacation, a cruise is sure to fulfill your dreams!

Why Cruise

Why Cruise
By Jerrick Foo

Cruising is not expensive unlike what most people thinks. In fact, as cruise fares come down, it has been one of the most popular choice for holiday makers.

Heres what you will be getting for the price you pay for a cruise ticket.

a.Accommodation

b.Meals

c.Airfare

d.Entertainment

e.Airfare (if applicable)

However, there are also certain expenses that you may have to fork out yourself. Pay as you use charges such as haircuts, massages, service tips and souvenirs bought during shore excursions are some of the expenses that could fall under this category.

As you can see, as long as you keep within your budget, it is an affordable vacation for you and your family. Of course, generally the longer the cruise voyage, the more expensive the package will be, and the more you are expected to pay. But considering all the entertainment and facilities you will be enjoying, a cruise is still relatively consider cheaper than a traditional travel package nowadays.

Just as you might be wondering why cruising has become so reasonably priced, the simple reason is because of growing demand and added competition. With more players coming into the cruise industry, cruisers have a wider selection of cruise ships to choose from.

To meet the growing expectations of cruisers, the cruise market has almost every type of cruise ships that to cater to the individual taste and budget.

But before you rush out to sign up for a cruise holiday package immediately, it pays to do more research about the type of cruise ships you will be getting on even if the price is no longer as expensive.

Why Should I Choose a Cruise Vacation?

Why Should I Choose a Cruise Vacation?
By Jerrick Foo

Why Cruise?

Going for a cruise is a wonderful personal experience. There are many push factors for one to opt for a cruise trip. One of the main reasons is that cruising is a very rewarding and carefree way of visiting the unique places in the world.

Below are further reasons as to why you may want to choose a cruise trip in favor of other traditional travel packages.

Best value for money

Steeper competition amongst the cruise operators has driven down the prices of cruise package considerably in recent years. It is no longer a holiday meant for the rich or affluent. Most packages are attractively priced to entice families as an affordable travel option. Indeed, you get to enjoy a wide range of entertainment activities almost on an all inclusive holiday package.

Relaxing environment

A cruise trip is both idyllic and stress free. Theres no need to plan or make any decisions of where to go or what to see. Once you are on board a cruise ship, all kinds of enjoyable activities awaits you. Just imagine yourself on the sun deck of the ship, basking in the wonderful sunshine or simply gazing the scenic views of the passing seas during the sunset, it must be one of the most treasured moment in life.

Suited for families

A holiday trip like this certainly has everything for everyone. If you are bringing your kids along, they will surely like the children program which most cruise ships has arranged for them these days. The men can practice chipping their golf balls at the mini golf range whilst the ladies can take the time to have a massage or facial at the beauty salon.

Unique traveling experience

Cruise offers you the opportunity to visit many places of interests over the span of several days. Theres no need to rearrange your packing bags or spend unnecessary time clearing the customs and immigration department. The cruise ships staff will handle that for you. Your job? Just enjoy the trip.

Special interests

Cruises can be both enjoyable and educational at the same time. Learn photography, photography or culinary skills as experts on board the ship conducts talks and clinics and demonstrations. The subjects covered are certainly wide enough to accommodate any special interest participants.

Cruising is certainly a good choice if you are thinking of taking a holiday. Take the chance to slow down the hectic lifestyle you have and get closer to the sea and sunshine.

10 Thoughts On Picking a Cruise Ship Cabin

10 Thoughts On Picking a Cruise Ship Cabin
By Ken Weasley

The best advice is to be informed about cabins and pick the right cabin for you among the thousands available on a cruiseship.

1. One of the most difficult parts of planning for a cruise is choosing the right cabin. Everyone has different tastes, andwhat is not important to one person might well be important to you.

2. Look at the cruise ship layout and decks online or in brochures. Know that there are different types of cabins ondifferent cruise ships. The biggest differences between cruise lines--mainstream and luxury--ships are the quality ofaccommodations.

3. Sometimes there are over 20 different categories on a ship! So it is important to know the different cabin categories. Onereason is that thanks to modern shipbuilding, most inside and outside staterooms are standard in size and amenities. Comparingone vessel's cabins against another is daunting task, so keep your eye on the square footage as the most important criteria.

4. Know your budget and what you can afford. The price of a cruise ship cabin or stateroom (the terms are interchangeable)is dependent on its size, layout, and location. The cabins on large cruise ships come in standard, ocean view, balcony, andsuite. A luxury line's smallest cabins are much larger than those on large cruise lines and are either ocean view orbalconied.

5. Know your lifestyle. Price is certainly a consideration, but if your vacation time is limited, you might be willing topay more to get a cabin better suited to your lifestyle. It's a personal decision, much like deciding where to cruise and whichship to cruise on. How about an outside cabin with a window, or better yet a balcony? How about sitting on the balcony with agood book or using it to catch a breathe of sea air?

6. The right cabin is a retreat house after a busy day ashore, or just to get away. A long cruise will have you wanting tospend a relaxing time in your room, watching a TV-movie, or taking a nap.

7. Lots of people recommend the cheapest inside cabin, because you won't be spending much time in there anyway. This might betrue for short trips, but are you prepared for an inside cabin on the lowest level.

8. Know your location. Cabin, balcony size, and cabin location vary significantly within the same price range on any ship.

9. There's lot of cruise industry jargon you have to decipher.

10. Yes, there are the obvious questions you should ask: Will I located below the water line? Will I hear the roar of the shipsengines from my cabin? Will I have enough room to turn around in my cabin? Will it be the size of a walk-in closet, with nowindows, a tiny bath, and bunk beds? Will I not be able to tell if it's day or night without going up several decks?

Explore what the different types of cabins are, which locations are the most desirable, and which locations you should avoid ifpossible. Pick the right accommodations and you'll have a wonderful time, and get hooked on cruising.

Noah's Ark and Cruise Ships

Noah's Ark and Cruise Ships
By Cassandra Ingraham

I cruise often, it is a peaceful relaxing experience that compares to none of my other travels. The calmness that comes over me while cruising is unexplainable. When cruising, I cant help but to notice the similarities of the story of Noahs Ark and the boarding of one of those mega 5 star floating resorts.

Once you board ship, they show you to your cabin and thats when you realize for sure, this is NOT Noahs Ark. Beauty, breathtaking, cabins, decorated with tasteful art, drapes, bed spread to match and in most cases a sliding glass door that leads out to your own private balcony. You are definitely NOT on Noahs Ark; however, the story of Noah never really leaves your sub conscience.

They announce over the loud speaker that you will need to report to your Muster station for an emergency drill about one hour before the ship is set to depart. However, you realize that you have time to explore before you must attend the emergency drill. Your cabin steward has made mention of the buffet on the Lido deck, and if you have not had lunch you might want to grab a bite to eat. (Food and entertainment is included in the cost of the cruise, so what if you have lunch twice!) If your cash flow allowed, your cabin is on the upper decks and you can look out over most of the city of your departure. Yet you still feel that you must take in more sights on this huge vessel. Even if your cash flow said it was OK, you may have selected an inside cabin. This is an excellent choice for people who have a concern about heights or looking at more water then they can drink.

Every thing is so lavish and uniquely designed to fit you wonder if you are walking through a fairyland castle. You hit the elevator button to go down and see the lobby and the ships shopping area. The lobby is 20 different little lobbies all in one big lobby. There are glass elevators, circle stair cases leading to different floors. You feel welcome and comfortable. (Even those of us who cruise often get excited about exploring a ship that we have never sailed before)

After a sneak preview of the lobby area, the shopping area, the small chapel, the ships Las Vegas style casino and maybe the Internet Caf, its time to get to the 24 Hour buffet. So you catch the elevator back up and on the way to the buffet you see two or more swimming pool areas, all with a lavish theme that usually co-insides with the ships name. When you finally reach the buffet you are amazed at how many choices you have, not to mention how relieved you are that the food is very tasteful.

At this point, it is time to return to your cabin, get your life jacket and report to your emergency drill (Muster Station) From this point on, except for getting lost a couple of times trying to find your cabin, you will feel comfortable. If you should get lost, just keep walking and enjoy the sights, you will be amazed at what you experience.

If Noah could see us now, I am sure he would be proud of us, because we have come a long way. The ark was 300 cubits (138 meters, 453 ft.) long, 50 (23 meters, 75.4 ft.) wide and 30 (14 meters, 45.9 ft) deep. This is based on the standard 46 cm. long regular cubit, which is an ancient unit of distance. It was the typical distance from an elbow to the tip of the longest finger.

These new mega ships are 857 feet and longer, cruise at a speed of 21 knots (one knot equals 1.15 statute mile (approximately) and carry over 2200 passengers. This is not counting the 800 plus crew members. Yes, I am sure, Noah would be proud of us.

South San Francisco Bay Charter's Handbook When to Plan a Cruise

South San Francisco Bay Charter's Handbook - When to Plan a Cruise
By Bob Diamond

When to Plan a Cruise

During most of the season, you can count on the afternoon northwest wind in the South Bay and wind coming more from the west in the North Bay. The other significant variable is the tidal current. The ideal plan is to have the current going with you in all directions but that's not always possible. If you can just plan to have the current in your favor at the critical times, you'll have a great advantage. There are places in the Bay where the current is stronger than elsewhere. These places can be seen in the current charts of San Francisco Bay. There are also days every month when the current is stronger than on other days. When the tides are the most extreme, it's called spring tides. The least extreme tides are called eap tides. The tidal current is of course strongest during the spring tides. Tide and current tables are available on the web and in booklet form at Spinnaker and many other marine facilities.

If possible, plan a cruise so the current is favorable or at least not too unfavorable when you're going to be passing through areas where the current is strongest. The tides and currents tend to be in opposite phase every week. If it turns out the current is going to be unfavorable for your passage one week; you can expect it to be favorable the following week. That's assuming you plan for approximately the same departure time. Modern cruising often involves a lot of motoring. Accept the necessity of motoring, especially if your going to start early in the morning before the wind comes up.

Fueling

The inboard Diesel powered boats carry enough fuel for just about any cruise of a few days duration. More fuel is available at the many fuel docks located north of Redwood City. The outboard powered boats normally only carry enough fuel for 3 or 4 hours of motoring. Spinnaker can provide an extra container of fuel upon request, and if necessary, cruisers can purchase more gasoline along the way. If 50:1 outboard mix is not available, outboard users will have to mix the new gas with outboard motor oil to make the proper mixture required by outboard engines. Charterers are given a full tank of gas upon departure from the charter base. Any additional fuel required is at the expenxe of the charter.

7 Quick Saving Bucks Tips For Your Cruise Trip

7 Quick Saving Bucks Tips For Your Cruise Trip
By Jerrick Foo

Is cruise an affordable activity for you? Are you put off by the rates that you see in the cruise brochures?

Well, here is some good news. Cruise fares are falling and almost everybody can easily afford a cruise nowadays. However, you need to be smart if you do not want to pay sticker price for your cruise tickets.

Here are some strategies when it comes to saving money for your cruise packages.

1.Avoid buying straight off from cruise brochures. Typically, these prices are the most exorbitant and outdated compared to what you can find online.

2.Be an early bird. Cruise travel agents always like to reward those who sign up with them early. By booking your cruise at least two months early, you stand a chance to enjoy big discounts ranging from 15 to 50 per cent each passenger. The cheapest and nicest cabins also tend to be snapped up first, leaving those who book later, less choices and higher prices to pay.

3.Last minute bookings. Cruise operators never like to have unfilled cabins before the ship set sails. If you can stand the risk of not getting a cabin last minute, this is a great way to enjoy discounts as much as 60 per cent.

4.Go on shoulder season. Booking a cruise during the off season (from September to December) is one guaranteed way to shave off further cost for the price of your cruise.

5.Group bookings. Traveling with a large group of friends or families can help you enjoy bulk discounts from the cruise liners. You qualify as a group if you have at least more than 15 passengers.

6.Prepayments. It may not sound great advice but the truth is, if pay in advance, you may get to benefit from discounts compared to others who pay later. This is a good method to use for those who are confident they will not ask for any cancellations or refund.

7.Repeat Discounts. Every cruise liners like to retain their customers. So to entice repeat business, the line may most likely offer extra treats or special upgrades for your subsequent cruise.

Add An Alaskan Land Tour To Your Cruise

Add An Alaskan Land Tour To Your Cruise
By Lynette Ross

Those that love all that Alaska has to offer can consider making their Alaskan cruise even more meaningful and amazing by taking on a land tour of the location as well as that of the by sea tour. There are many reasons to do this, if you have time and are more adventurous rather than just being the tourist. Alaska is a wilderness that is full of some of the most amazing landscapes and people. The culture and the view are two things well worth taking in to the fullest. With a land tour, you can experience more in depth what Alaska can offer to you.

The land tours will last a bit longer than a standard cruise line trip. They are going to cost a bit more as well for that same reason. Nevertheless, you will find many benefits from these land tours. You will be able to stay at various mountain lodges on land or in standard hotels if you would rather. There are also adventurous tours that you can take onto mountain trains or fishing expeditions into the wild waterways of Alaska. In addition, you can see first hand what life is life in Alaska and take in the culture of the people.

If you are looking to explore all that Alaska has to offer, then consider what you will find here. There are a wide range of experiences to be had from both your cruise ship as well as from the land tours. A true adventure into Alaska is not complete without a bit of exploring on the land. So, if you can not do the land tour, make sure that your cruise allows for more than a few shore adventures as well. This will allow you to experience a bit more of what Alaska has to offer to you.

Does this all sound like a pipe dream to you? It really isn't, you know. This is exactly how thousands of other people are choosing to live their lives right now, as we speak. This is exactly the life that I have led. This is exactly the life that YOU too could be living.

If you've already thought about getting a job on a luxury cruise liner Chance are that probably already appreciate some of the incredible benefits of working in this unique, exciting and fascinating industry.

But let's get one thing straight...

Why do YOU want to work onboard a cruise ship?

It's important to be able to answer this apparently simple question, before applying for cruise ship jobs.

Why?

...Because unless you have a clear idea for the reason you want to do it and know exactly what you want to achieve, you may apply for the wrong positions, but worst of all you'll struggle to find the motivation to follow through with it. Your efforts will be doomed to failure!

That sounds rather harsh, but think about it for a moment...

You're attempting to embark on one of life's great adventures, your success will largely depend on the impression you give to a potential cruise ship employer and that only comes from knowing your reasons for wanting to do it.

So grab a pen and paper and write down your main objective in no more than ONE sentence.

I don't want to over-influence your ideas, but here are some of the many reasons why people decide to work onboard a cruise ship:

* TRAVEL THE WORLD Cruise ship jobs provide the perfect vehicle from which to visit the most exotic and beautiful destinations on earth. Often you'll travel to places that you would never get to see in your lifetime through 'conventional' travel.

* TO DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR LIFE Working onboard a cruise ship makes you a VERY interesting and attractive person. You get instant respect, even recognition. It's unusual and different and people naturally want to talk to you about it. What was it like?, Where did you go?, I wish I'd have done that (a VERY common reaction!). Even potential employers are INTRIGUED when they see on your resume that you once worked on a cruise ship! You'll feel VERY satisfied that you actually did something exciting with your life.

* TO SAVE MONEY The potential to save a lot of money is fantastic! You're being paid a great income (tax free) and you have ZERO expenses - no board to pay, no food to buy and no bills to settle each month. Every cent you earn goes into YOUR pocket and no one else's. You are free to do whatever you like with that money, whether its save for a deposit on a house or a new car. Or blow the lot on amazing life experiences in exotic ports of call! The choice is yours.

* TO MEET OTHER PEOPLE With up to 1500 crew members onboard each ship you WILL meet and make many great friends (even partners) with new, interesting and exciting people. And with 70+ different nationalities working onboard, you'll often find that your closest friends are from exotic faraway places too!

* TO START A NEW CAREER Never forget, a cruise ship job doesn't have to be a 'one-off' opportunity. A whole new glittering career awaits you - if you want it. Opportunities to develop your career are massive and cruise lines almost always promote from 'within'.

* HAVE SOME FUN! Isn't that what life's all about? And fun comes with a capital F when you work on a cruise ship!

As I've mentioned above... there are many other GREAT reasons to work on a cruise ship, so don't be over-influenced by my list. But do grab a pen and get your reasons down on paper.

SixStar Cruising on Luxury Cruise Lines

Six-Star Cruising on Luxury Cruise Lines
By Colin Hartness

A luxury cruise is just what the name implies, a cruise at the upper end of the spectrum, not just five stars but a six-star cruise. There are six cruise lines that are in the luxury class: Crystal Cruise Line, Cunard Cruise Line, Radisson Seven Seas, The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea Cruise Line, and Windstar Cruises.

Crystal Cruise Line has received numerous awards for excellence. For the last nine years, Conde Nast Traveler has named Crystal Best Large-Ship Cruise Line. Also for the last nine years, Travel + Leisure magazine has given Crystal the status of Worlds Best Large-Ship Cruise Line. And for service, a Travel + Leisure readers poll voted Crystal Worlds Best. Crystal Cruise Line operates only three ships: Crystal Harmony, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. These ships carry approximately 1,000 passengers each and Crystal Cruise Line boasts the greatest passenger space per guest of any cruise line.

Do you recognize the ship names Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth? These great ships come from Cunard, a name long synonymous with luxury and elegance in cruises. With Cunard, the journey may be even more magnificent than the destination states their promotional literature. Cunard operates just two award-winning luxury ships. The Queen Mary 2, launched in January, 2004, is known as the longest, tallest and largest ocean liner and carries 2,620 passengers. It is replacing the Queen Elizabeth 2 for transatlantic crossings but the QE2 will still be available for cruises.

Radisson Seven Seas is a small luxury cruise line. Small here means that the ships carry a small number of passengers. Fewer than 700 fortunate passengers per cruise are pampered by attentive staff. Radisson Seven Seas has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the Worlds Best Small Cruise Line. Radisson Seven Seas appeals to the sophisticated traveler.

The Yachts of Seabourn cruise line advertises that they provide Ultra Luxury by delivering the highest levels of personalized service to an exclusive group of guests aboard intimate, elegant ships that could visit the most enticing destinations worldwide. Seabourn sails three identical all-suite ships that cater to only 208 passengers each. Of course, dining and service is world-class.

Silversea Cruises is a new company, founded in 1994, for the express purpose of providing an ultra-luxury cruise experience aboard small and intimate ships with all the features of a large cruise vessel. The Silverseas ships Cloud, Wind, Shadow, and Whisper provide all-suite accommodations that between 250 square feet and over 1,300 square feet in size. Silversea vies with Radisson Seven Seas and Crystal Cruise Lines for the accolades of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure in the worlds best categories. Silversea Cruises has also has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the Worlds Best Small Cruise Line many times since its inception.

Windstar Cruises offers a totally different sailing experience. Windstar Cruises offers motor-sail-yachts instead of cruise ships. Yes, their ships actually have sails that are computer-controlled with the latest in technology. Windstars four ships carry just 148 to 308 passengers in staterooms or luxurious suites, giving the feel of being aboard a personal yacht. Even with such a small fleet, Windstar Cruises sail to over 47 countries around the world.

If youre in the market for a luxury cruise, there are a number of excellent cruise lines to chose from.

10 Reasons Why You Should Go On A Cruise

10 Reasons Why You Should Go On A Cruise
By Graham Grant

Reason #1 The Price of Cruises

Cruises are all inclusive meaning that all your traveling main meals and entertainment costs are covered. The only exceptions are alcoholic drinks and extras which you can take on board yourself to save even more money.

Reason #2 Go on a Cruise for Romance

Cruises have all the elements required if you are going on a romantic trip. You have isolated beaches, cozy dinner settings, relaxing massage and spa treatment. All things that are great if you are in the mood for love.

Reason #3 Cruise for dining and wining.

Cruises are a great way to find the best cuisine. There is something for everyone. Whether you like fast food, or more specialized gourmet dishes and more exotic cooking as well. There are also various places on board where you can eat be it the ball room and entertainment area or a more sedate cafe area.

Reason #4 Cruise for a great variety of choice

Cruise ships come in all shape and sizes offering something for everyone. Also there are well over 2000 ports of call you can visit while you cruise. In short if there is a place with a sea port you wish to visit, then you can probably go to it by cruise and then visit it when you disembark.

Reason #5 Cruise for experiencing different activities

There is always something to do on a cruise whether playing sport, listening to lectures or going on tours. Even if all you want to do is lie by the pool then you can do that. And at night you can experience the best nightlife has to offer within walking distance from your cabin.

Reason #6 Cruise for relaxation.

Once you are on a cruise you no longer have to worry about anything. Cruises are all inclusive so all your needs are catered for, so all you need to worry about is making sure you make the most of what is on offer but if all you want to do is just relax and do nothing that is good too.

Reason #7 Cruise for experiencing different locations.

Every day you will probably be in a new place without the need to pack your bags to get to the next location.

Reason #8 Cruise for great fun for all the family.

Cruises are perfect holidays that the whole family can enjoy It's something the whole family can enjoy together because every cruise will have entertainment especially laid out for kids as well as adults. And most importantly for adults the fact that children are kept well occupied means that parents can enjoy some peace and quite while the kids have fun.

Reason #9 Cruise for your health and body.

If dancing, working out or going to the spa is something you enjoy then cruises are well equipped with these amenities which are available 24 hours a day. So there is no excuse not to get fit if that is the reason you went on a cruise.

Reason #10 Cruise for feeling fulfilled and satisfied.

It is no coincidence that surveys have revealed that cruise passengers have a much higher level of satisfaction over other people who have taken other kinds of vacations.
